Alienware Area 51 in India – Preview

Alienware Area 51 Laptop – 5 Lakh Rupees Beast.

What does a 5 Lakh Rupees Laptop Look Like? Honestly, here’s my take on Alienware Area 51 India Preview.

It’s their latest and greatest flagship, it’s their biggest laptop, it’s the most expensive, it’s very powerful, running the latest hardware, newest design elements.

Alienware Area51m

Alienware Area 51 is their flagship laptop.

It’s smaller than I thought it would be, like around 4 KG in weight and height is 40.2 cm x 31.9 cm x 31.2 mm.

When you look at pictures, it’s hard to kind of see the scale. It’s big don’t get me wrong. This isn’t like a super portable device though.

Based on the pictures I saw at the CES, it’s a bit smaller than I expected.

Design is Very Alienware-ish. Which makes this laptop very eye candy.

I personally like this design.

They have spent a lot of time making their product look and feel very very unique.

I had got my hands on Lunar white grey color which looks almost white but not like stark white.

It has a soft-touch finish to it.

It has a soft-touch finish which makes it very nice to hold in hands.

However, long term durability has got me concerned in that particular color.

Like if you have eaten Cheetos or a particular oily item I think it will dirty up the surface over time.

The build quality feels very good as I said earlier that it is very Alienware like.

It’s a device which also going to make you feel very tanky.

There’s no flex on the chassis, this is what Alienware does. It’s their specialty.

There are heavier devices available and they make it very well.

The logo up at the front lights up, the alien head.
But aesthetically, the attraction to this device for me is definitely, the light-up the trim on the tail end of the device.

It lights up from the tail end of the device.

The lighting there looks really cool to me. It’s kind of like the engine of an alien space ship.

Honestly, if this device was just like a plain generic-looking black box, the truth is people probably wouldn’t be giving it the attention as much as it gets. There is plastic

on the bezel and around the screen, and honestly, I didn’t really like it that well.

That material is kind of something which can get scratched very easily. So it’s unfortunate that they used it.

I feel like over time if you don’t care about it,

It is gonna look aged quite quickly compared to the rest of the device.

So the ports on the Area 51m are kind of limited. I feel like it has got the same number of ports as a 15-inch device.

It has 3 USB-A’s, 1 Thunderbolt 3 and even on a device this large,

it doesn’t have an SD Card slot.

For the people that are buying devices like this, they don’t need an SD card slot.

But I would have liked to see it because I know people who can make good use of it.

Now if you notice on the back, there are two AC adapter sockets,

We have also seen devices like this before, devices that require two power connections.

Alienware Area 51m has two different sizes which are 330 watts and 180 watts.

This is just for this particular configuration, but the fact remains that you need two AC adapters to run Alienware area51m at full power.

To be honest I am not a huge fan of using two power adapters. I understand why they did it but I just don’t like it.

In some regions, you can’t get Ac Adapters that are larger than 330 watts.

So to make Alienware area 51 an international device, they have to take this step.

In my opinion, that makes the device less portable.

Here are some specs for this device to sum it all up.

  • Alienware 17 Area-51M Gaming Laptop with Windows 10 Home + Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019
  • 9th Generation Intel Core i9-9900HK (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.0Ghz w/Turbo Boost)
